Case Reports

Other case reporting guidelines.

BMJ Case Reports is an award winning journal that delivers a focused, peer-reviewed, valuable collection of cases in all disciplines so that healthcare professionals, researchers and others can easily find clinically important information on common and rare conditions. This is the largest single collection of case reports online with more than 9000 articles from over 70 countries.

The Library has an institutional subscription to the BMJ Case Reports that allows WACHS staff to publish free of charge.

Publishing  in BMJ Case Reports will help you to:

  • Gain international recognition
  • Share your clinical experiences
  • Ease into the publishing pathway - especially useful for junior doctors
  • Contribute to a growing repository of case reports

How to publish as an institutional fellow

Please contact the WACHS Research Governance unit to confirm whether any approvals are required to publish your case study: wachs.researchgovernance@health.wa.gov.au

First - find your case and start writing!

Connect from the Library's link to the BMJ Case Reports then follow the instructions in the User Guide for WACHS Staff.

Be sure to cite your institution as WA Country Health Service.

In order to submit your paper you will need the Institutional Fellowship membership number found in the User Guide.

The Fellowship only covers the publication fee but does not cover open access.  See the FAQ - "Authors can choose to publish their article open access for a fee of £460 (plus VAT where applicable). Please note, this charge is separate from the annual Fellowship fee."

Good luck!
